This winter in Argentina was very poor in snow conditions. Of course there’s always some, you just have to get out there and search harder. One of my highlights was the adventure to Baguales, a new mountain lodge in the Andes, designed for a future Cat ski operation. We got invited to have a first taste of it and to do a little promotional video for them.
After turning of the main road from Bariloche and driving 17km into the wild, crossing various rivers and climbing the mountain as far we could get, on this provisory road probably made for vehicles with tracks. We arrived to the snow line and when the first sunlight came through the thick fog we new that it would be a promising adventure.
We rode the snowmobiles to the top of the tree line, once there, we had the first morning coffee in the recently build Lodge. From the window we could see that we where on the edge of a huge high Plateau with various peaks and hills. Not many people had been riding this area at all, so we felt very privileged. The filming turned in to be a bit more difficult, as the snow was blown away or there where 10cm of dust on crust. But the landscape was mind blowing with many possible lines to ride and a big volcano “Tronador” in the background. We had to search a bit for the pockets of snow to be able to make our shots. But it was lots of fun and worth every minute! Not a problem, the day was great. We arrived home in Bariloche in the same dark sky as we left and the only thing you could see was our white big smiles!
Saludos y hasta pronto
